This Saturday morning again the British could hope to spend the Christmas holidays with a few relatives, this evening, in view of
the health situation,
Boris Johnson showered their hopes during a televised address. "
It is with a heavy heart,
their he said,
that I inform you that we will not be able to spend Christmas as planned.
“And for good reason, the virus has mutated in the south of England, where it has become more aggressive and more contagious.
The Prime Minister explained that the spread has now been accelerated by a new discovery this week.
It would be up to 70% more contagious.
A fourth level of alert will therefore come into effect this Sunday, in addition to the three already existing.
It will first affect London in the south-east of the country.
And the restrictions there will be similar to that of the national lockdown last November, which means their residents will have to stay at home.
350,000 Britons have already received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
Saturday night Boris Johnson said he had no proof that this
new strain
would be more resistant to it.
