Bestensee (dpa) - The Bundesliga game of the Netzhoppers KW-Bestensee against the Grizzlys Giesen has been canceled at short notice.

The volleyball Bundesliga reported a “corona-related game cancellation” shortly before the game scheduled for this Saturday (6 p.m.).

An accompanying person from the immediate vicinity of the Giesener had tested positive for the virus.

The game Lüneburg against Friedrichshafen, which was supposed to start at 7 p.m., had to be canceled due to a positive test by a Lüneburg team member.

Other team members had to go into quarantine.

The Landkost Arena in Bestensee was already set up for the Netzhoppers' home appearance.

But in the early afternoon, the hosts received the news that the opponent had a positive test.

Netzhoppers team manager Britta Wersinger classified the rejection as “a precautionary measure”.

Coach Christophehaben scheduled a training session as an alternative.

The Gieseners, who had already arrived and trained in the Landkost Arena, started their journey home to Lower Saxony again.

The person concerned was informed of the infection by phone from home around noon.

Further tests must now provide information on whether players or people from the Giesener support staff have also become infected.

To what extent the team will then have to be quarantined is currently uncertain.

A catch-up date for the game still has to be found.

The Berlin first division clubs BR Volleys and VC Olympia have also been affected by the effects of the corona pandemic.

The volleys team had to be quarantined in preparation for the season due to the infection of a player.

In the VC Volleys junior team, the first two games of the season were postponed due to several corona cases in the team.
