Corinne and her daughter Camille, who work on the continent and will join their family in Haute-Corse for the holidays, had their test.

"We went to take the test, we had the negative result, so we can take the boat alone", rejoices Camille.

“If we want to go see the family, we abide by the rules,” said Corinne for his part.

"We said to ourselves: 'Are we spending Christmas on the continent or are we going with the family'? We didn't know until the end?"

Marc, Julia and Justine were afraid of having to cancel their ferry at the last minute.

Expected in Haute-Corse, it is with relief and equipped with their PCR tests that they set sail. "We were really scared. We thought they were going to cancel everything, like in Italy where we did no right to cross the regions, ”they say. 

But within the family, opinions differ on the interest of this mandatory screening.

"There, we are negative, but who says that in three days, we will not have the Covid?", Asks Marc, while Julia notes that "in the summer, they did not do it for tourists ".

But everyone agrees, these precautions are useful to protect the elderly on the island.

If the results of the PCR or antigen test will not be directly requested by the shipping and airline companies, a sworn certificate must be completed, and upon arrival in Corsica, random checks must be carried out.

"On disembarking, therefore on arrival in Corsica, there will be important checks by the police, who will ask for proof of the completion of the test," explains François Chazot, chief of staff of the prefect of the Corsica region .

"There will be police and gendarmes on all of the island's port and airport infrastructure this weekend."  

In total, nearly 3,000 checks were carried out on Saturday.

According to the regional prefecture in Corsica, 98% of passengers had the required documents, and only eight people were fined.
