Augsburg (dpa) - Eintracht Frankfurt's draw kings celebrated a victory in the last Bundesliga game before Christmas away at FC Augsburg.

After nine unsuccessful games, the Hessian Bundesliga team won 2-0 (0-0) on Saturday.

It was fitting for a game of missed chances that an own goal decided the game: Eintracht striker André Silva hit the ball sharply from the baseline in front of the Augsburg goal in the 53rd minute, where FCA captain Jeffrey Gouweleeuw shot his defensive colleague Raphael Framberger unlucky : The ball landed in the net.

Shortly before the end, substitute Stefan Ilsanker increased with a low shot (87th).

Thanks to the happy ending in the league, Frankfurt overtook neighbors FC Augsburg (16) with 17 points.

Both teams have to play again in the DFB Cup before the short Christmas vacation: The FCA receives RB Leipzig in the second round, the Frankfurters are now fighting at Bayer Leverkusen for a place in the round of 16.

Both teams chose the forward gear under the light fog in the Augsburg Arena.

This led to an intensive and entertaining exchange of blows with numerous closing actions.

The FCA game was helped by the newly deployed double top with Florian Niederlechner and Alfred Finnbogason, who were still banned from the 1-0 win in Bielefeld.

Both attackers created spaces.

But they acted unhappy in their final actions in front of the gate.

The biggest FCA opportunity was missed by the Icelanders Finnbogason before the break when he shot Eintracht goalkeeper Kevin Trapp after a cross from full-back Iago from the turn (28th).

Even Niederlechner, who was still goalless this season, ran towards the Frankfurter Tor several times - sometimes he stumbled, sometimes he shot too weak.

The Eintracht, in which Tuta replaced the suspended David Abraham in defense, could also have scored before the own goal, yes almost should.

Filip Kostic and Amin Younes finished dangerously several times.

Erik Durm's cross landed at the far post (37th).

And after a long pass from Kostic in the penalty area, Silva even missed the goal (39th).

The 0-0 break at break was a strange result.

The usury of opportunities even continued at first.

Kostic tested the good FCA goalkeeper Rafal Gikiewicz.

Then the enthusiastic Marco Richter had the great opportunity to make it 1-0 for the hosts.

The offensive man had a free run, but opted for a lob.

National goalkeeper Trapp stopped and caught the ball loosely (50th).

So it somehow fit into the picture that the unfortunate own goal ended the attacker's zero number.

Augsburg then ran in vain - until Ilsanker's decisive 2-0 draw.
