Faced with financial difficulties, Donald Trump had in 1993 transformed his property in Mar-a-Lago into a private club, in order to benefit from tax advantages.
Under the agreement made at the time with the city of Palm Beach, no one can stay for more than twenty-one days a year or more than seven consecutive days in the suites of the palace.
The clause guaranteed the city to make sure it was not a hotel.
It is this agreement
that the neighbors
of Donald Trump's residence have
unearthed
to ask the mayor of Palm Beach to intervene, in order to prevent the current tenant of the White House from settling permanently near their home. .
In the letter written by their lawyer, the neighbors note that this agreement was
distorted during the mandate of the president,
but that there can be no question of continuing to violate it.
“
Palm Beach has many great estates for sale,
” they write.
"
The president will surely be able to find one that meets his needs
."
Asked by the American press, the presidency did not wish to react.
