Kommunal does not believe that the municipality as an employer has done what it can to protect its staff against covid-19.

- There are routines for what we should do if we get suspected or established cases of infection, but not for how we should prevent the spread of infection, says Oskar Engström, work environment coordinator Kommunal.

High and upward spread of infection

At the end of November, the staff at Torgbacken's preschool in Karlskrona alerted about an unsustainable work situation.

11 of the 14 educators were ill at home, several of them with confirmed covid-19.

- That situation is unfortunately not unique.

The spread of infection is high and rising.

We see that the virus is present in more than one device, says Oskar Engström.

- Many feel anxious about becoming infected or infecting relatives.

For the children, the consequence will be that they do not get educators present, says Linn Alexandersson, section representative of the knowledge administration.

"Does not solve the problem"

On Friday, Karlskrona municipality issued an appeal to guardians to keep their children at home over Christmas and New Year.

- It is great because the staff can get a much-needed holiday, but it does not solve the problem if the situation looks the same after New Year, says Oskar Engström.

What do you want the municipality to do?

- We want the 15-hour children to continue to be kept at home, and for staff exposed to corona infection to be tested and for substitutes to be appointed in the meantime, says Linn Alexandersson.

SVT Nyheter has applied for the head of the knowledge administration, Yvonne Strandh.
