Stuttgart / Weil am Rhein (dpa / lsw) - For a silent march with representatives of the “lateral thinking” movement, up to 500 participants want to come together at the weekend in Stuttgart.

The city approved the event subject to conditions, a city spokesman said on Friday.

No more than 500 people are allowed to participate, and everyone must adhere to the distance rules.

If this is not possible, the mask requirement also applies.

Starting from Oberer Schlossplatz, the participants want to march through the city center with a silent march and demonstrate against the currently applicable Corona policy.

The meeting on Sunday in downtown Stuttgart was registered by a private person from Schwäbisch Gmünd.

She would like the march to be understood as a “demo to preserve democracy”.

The association “lateral thinking 7171” from Schwäbisch Gmünd also advertises the silent march on the homepage of the movement “lateral thinking 711”.

A large demonstration in Weil am Rhein (Lörrach district) directly in the border triangle Germany-Switzerland-France is still dependent on legal decisions.

The organizers, “Quermachen-762” from Lörrach and “Quermachen-775” from Waldshut, originally announced 10,000 participants.

The founder of the “lateral thinking” movement, Michael Ballweg, is expected to speak.

But the assembly authority has banned the action because of the risk of infection.

Although the applicants had reduced the number of participants to 3570, a gathering with a demonstration elevator in times of the sharp rise in infection rates in the region would represent an “unacceptable threat to public safety”.

On the other hand, the organizers say they want to take legal action through all instances, in case of doubt up to the Federal Constitutional Court.

According to a city spokeswoman, a final decision could not be made until Saturday.
