The Swiss Corinne Suter won the first descent of Val d'Isère on Friday, her first World Cup success this season, ahead of the Italian Sofia Goggia (11 / 100th) and the American Breezy Johnson (20 / 100th) .

The 2020/21 season could be that of confirmation for the 26-year-old Swiss, a great hope in juniors but long held back by health problems.

Strong last year of a lot of technical work in the turns, which came to reinforce her natural sense of gliding, the skier from Schwyz had won her first two World Cup victories, at Altenmarkt-Zauchensee in downhill then Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Super -G, and won the crystal globes of the two specialties.

The race was interrupted around 20 minutes after the fall of 11th competitor Nicole Schmidhofer, who missed a turn and rushed into the net at full speed.

The Austrian was evacuated on a stretcher.
