Nurses are particularly likely to be absent due to Covid-19

Berlin (dpa) - According to a report by the editorial network Germany, care workers have been absent particularly often in relation to other professional groups due to Covid-19 in recent months.

In the report (Saturday), the newspaper refers to figures from the Barmer health insurance company.

Accordingly, from the beginning of the pandemic to mid-November, 2.5 percent of all nurses insured with Barmer were on sick leave due to Covid-19.

In absolute numbers that is 6,600 nurses.

In all professional groups, the proportion of Covid 19 sufferers is only 1.6 percent.

«The corona pandemic is worsening dramatically.

So we cannot afford that so many nurses fall ill with Corona and are absent, ”said the head physician at Barmer, Ursula Marschall, to the RND.
