It is not entirely clear when a pandemic team can be ready, but the message now is that it should be in place by March.

- It is possible that you will be able to speed it up because the spread of infection is as great as it is, says SVT's domestic policy commentator Mats Knutson in Rapport, and continues:

- It may turn out that this pandemic law actually comes into force when the worst is over with this infection.

The new recommendation on oral protection is the best among the government's new corona measures, according to the Center's health policy spokesperson Anders W. Jonsson and KD's Acko Ankarberg Johansson, chairman of the Riksdag's social committee.

- We have raised this for several weeks.

It is an absolutely necessary precaution, says Acko Ankarberg Johansson.

"Had to have restrictions"

However, several of the other measures will not be able to serve their purpose according to C and KD.

- We had needed restrictions and not just recommendations.

Had we had a pandemic team in place, it would have been possible to decide to close down the Christmas shopping instead of just appealing to cancel the mid-day sale, says Anders W. Jonsson.

At Friday's press conference, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven announced, among other things, that the number of visitors must be limited at gyms, shopping centers and shops and that the government "will plan to close down operations" if this is not complied with.

But as it looks now, the government has no power to close down either the gym or the mall.

- There was no one who could answer which law space should be used to do this, because there is nothing, says Anders W. Jonsson.

Too late thought

The plan is for the new temporary pandemic law to take effect in March next year.

According to Anders W. Jonsson, it is far too late.

- Had the government started work on the law earlier, we would have had it in place now, he says.

At that time, restaurateurs who were hit hard by the new limited alcohol licenses could also have been entitled to compensation.

- We have demanded this and the Riksdag agrees on that, says Acko Ankarberg Johansson.
