Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The Ministry of Culture has distributed masks to teachers in the state, which are no longer allowed to be imported into Europe.

The teachers now have doubts about the safety of the protective masks.

However, both the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Social Affairs assure that the masks have been tested and are safe.

A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Culture announced on Friday that it was a protective filter mask with the Chinese standard KN95.

The Ministry of Social Affairs announced in a statement that the masks had already been procured in the spring when protective equipment could be introduced that did not meet the formal requirements of the EU.

Since the end of August, such masks as they were distributed to teachers in Baden-Württemberg in the past few days can no longer be imported into the EU.

The Ministry of Social Affairs had subjected the masks to a certificate test and a technical test before delivery.

The Ministry of Culture assumes that the protection of the masks is comparable to the standard for so-called FFP2 masks, it said.

The teachers have doubts about this.

The Ministry of Culture has received numerous critical questions from schools about the protective masks, the spokeswoman said.

That is why the Ministry of Social Affairs was asked for an opinion.

The Ludwigsburg newspaper had previously reported on it.
