Würzburg (dpa) - The Würzburger Kickers have to compete in the 2nd Bundesliga after the release of four professionals from the Corona quarantine on Saturday with a rump team at SV Darmstadt 98.

“It's not a sport, it's politics,” criticized trainer Bernhard Trares on Friday.

He only had "eleven and a half" capable field players plus two goalkeepers, said the 48-year-old at an online press conference.

According to the statutes of the German Football League (DFL) for the Corona special game operation, however, the bottom of the table has a sufficient number of at least 15 players.

Injured and banned actors are also counted.

The associations had drawn up the statutes themselves.

"It's not going to be a regular game, that's clear," said Trares.

One of the twelve field players with whom he will drive to Darmstadt is one of the ailing players.

He may even have to replace a goalkeeper as a field player.

"That is also a plan."

According to the statutes, Würzburg has 17 professionals, including the blocked Ewerton.
