Potsdam (dpa / bb) - Brandenburg's Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD) has welcomed the Bundestag's resolution to reform the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), but still sees some open points.

Woidke said on Thursday that the decentralized use of renewable energies and the financial relief of electricity consumers would have to be addressed.

The at least partial exemption from an EEG tax for direct use of self-generated green electricity is still open.

The clarification of the open questions are very important to him, because Brandenburg wants to ensure that the regional industry can be supplied with renewable energies.

From his experience and after discussions with industry representatives, this was what many companies wanted to produce in a climate-neutral way.

"In addition, the energy transition must remain affordable," emphasized the SPD politician.

The Bundestag decided on Thursday with the votes of the black-red coalition to reform the EEG.

The Federal Council should vote on Friday.

Widespread criticism of the amendment came from the opposition as well as from environmental and industry associations, who find the reform inadequate.

The changes in the law should come into force at the beginning of the year.

According to the new law, it will be easier for people to use solar power themselves in the future.

It is good that the citizens and municipalities are given more say, said Woidke.

“Because the energy transition needs acceptance in the regions”.

According to him, Brandenburg also advocates that more areas of water be used for solar systems in the future, provided this is compatible with the landscape.
