The Social Resources Committee distributes the City of Gothenburg's contribution to ten study associations, including Ibn Rushd's western district.

They have received close to one million kronor in basic grants for 2020. But this summer, the issue of the second part, volume and target group grants, would also be decided.

Ibn Rushd had then requested around SEK 850,000.

  • On June 17, the question was referred again, because they wanted to know more about the study association's and its partners' activities and whether they follow the city's guidelines.

  • During the autumn, the social resources committee decided to investigate this and started two different investigations, the auditing firm KPMG would look at the finances and management of partners and their focus.

  • At the beginning of December, both of these investigations were completed.

The part with the study associations' partners showed that there were connections to lecturers who showed evidence of religious extremism and anti-Semitic views and that certain courses could be religious practice.

The review based the information on, among other things, course titles and researchers' information.

  • The KPMG report was ready on 3 December.

There, the audit firm points out doubts about the reporting of salaries and fees, that the firm has not received rental agreements or receipts for certain information and that the number of circle leaders seems to exceed the number of courses.

  • These reports have not been published by the social resources committee, because they wanted to avoid a debate in the media, according to the chairman.

SVT has received them in other ways.

  • Ibn Rushd stated at SVT's first publication on December 11 that it was a "democratic disaster" that they were not allowed to see the reviews ordered by the municipality.

  • We also told that there has been a political battle over the student union, where among others the Green Party and the Democrats have completely different opinions on the issue.

  • Ibn Rushd then came up with a counter-attack on December 15, where they believe that the review was carried out incorrectly and that the criticism is unfounded, based on the information published by SVT.

  • On 16 December, the proposal not to grant volume and target group grants to Ibn Rushd was on the politicians' table, when the committee met.

But the question was referred back and the matter has thus not yet been decided.
