On Thursday, it became clear that the covid-19 vaccinations will start in Skåne already on weekdays.

That's what Maria Landgren, vaccine coordinator at Region Skåne, says.

- What we know right now is 425 doses, says Maria Landgren.

These doses are part of those delivered to Sweden in connection with the vaccination in the EU starting on 27 December.

Large delivery in January

For adequate protection, two vaccinations are required at one-month intervals, says Maria Landgren.

But for logistical reasons, the region has chosen to vaccinate 425 different people when the first shipment arrives.

These people then receive their second vaccination when a larger delivery of 29,000 doses is expected in January.

The vaccine must be stored in minus eighty degrees.

When the temperature has then been raised to a couple of plus degrees, the vaccine only lasts for five days.

- We will have a few days to use them, says Maria Landgren.

It will be residents and staff in nursing homes who will receive the first doses.

Which accommodation or which places in Skåne it will be has not yet been decided.

- When we choose, we will choose where purely logistically it will work with a safe and effective vaccination, says Maria Landgren.
