Espionage. Luis del Rivero reveals to the judge that Villarejo wanted to "infiltrate" Sacyr by offering him his services
Wine Project: Former Repsol and La Caixa Security Chiefs affirm that they hired Villarejo thinking that he was not an active curator
The former president of Sacyr
Luis del Rivero
declared this Thursday before the head of the Central Court of Instruction Number 6 of the Hearing
Manuel García Castellón
for the espionage that he suffered by the network led by the commissioner
José Manuel Villarejo
after the commission of the Ibex, Repsol and La Caixa companies, the so-called
Wine
project
.
According to legal sources to EL MUNDO, Del Rivero, who has appeared as a witness, has explained that it was the former chief commissioner of the UCAO
Enrique García Castaño
who in September 2011 called the former head of Sacyr Security,
Rodrigo Álvarez Vázquez ,
to put you in contact Villarejo.
The commissioner known as
El Gordo
told him that his partner wanted to communicate information that was very relevant to the company.
In a later meeting, José Manuel Villarejo offered Commissioner Álvarez Vázquez his services and told him that Del Rivero was being spied on with the aim of taking away the presidency of the construction company.
As proof of this espionage, Villarejo gave the former head of Sacyr Security a preview of the intelligence report with the follow-ups that were being carried out.
For his part, Del Rivero has indicated that he rejected the services offered by the police linked to the state sewers.
In that sense, the former head of Sacyr Security also appeared as a witness at the hearing this Thursday, who has recounted how García Castaño called him "pissed off" after that first meeting to tell him that he had leaked Repsol that they had knowledge that they were being spied on by the company.
The suspicions are that while Villarejo worked and charged for the services provided to La Caixa and Repsol he tried to "infiltrate" Sacyr.
The illegal order originated at a time when Repsol detected a strategy on the part of Del Rivero to partner with the oil company Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), with the aim of obtaining almost a third of Repsol's total shares .
This assignment cost the businessman the presidency of the construction company in 2011. In fact, Del Rivero was dismissed as president of Sacyr by the Board of Directors on October 20, 2011, that is, less than two months after approval unanimously by the Pemex / Sacyr pact and by a single vote.
In addition, the witness, who acts as an accusation in this separate piece of the Tandem case, has told García Castellón the serious moral and economic damages that he suffered because of the aforementioned espionage, stating that he did not perceive the follow-ups that were made to him by the Cenyt group .
The businessman has also revealed that, after being dismissed as president of Sacyr, his personal computers were hacked.
Some supposed Movistar technicians called his secretary to check the computers in his office and, in reality, they 'hacked' the devices.
However, the businessman has stressed that he did not report these events to the Police.
