A couple residing in Martigues were found lifeless last night, around 3 a.m.
According to La Provence, the husband had just learned that his wife had a lover.
He then allegedly shot the latter with a hunting rifle while he slept, before turning the weapon against him.
The victim of the femicide was 51 years old.
According to the first elements of the investigation unveiled by AFP, the husband was not known for a history of domestic violence.
Contacted, a police source specifies that an investigation is open and that for the moment, "the privileged track is that of intentional homicide".
According to AFP, at least 74 feminicides have occurred since the start of the year.
