"A red line crossed", according to Stéphanie Daumin, mayor of Chevilly-Larue in Val-de-Marne.

The city councilor claims to be the victim of a series of “acts of intimidation” after his denunciation of “trafficking” in his town.

And this latest intimidation affected her 14-year-old son, reports the elected official.

On December 7, returning from college, "a person in ambush comes in and gives him a punch before running off, he does not take the bike, the keys or a phone", reports Stéphanie Daumin.

"It's been four to five weeks that I have been subjected to attacks, troubles which are getting worse", declared the elected Communist.

"There [to attack his son], it is a red line that has been crossed."

"Very clearly, these are acts of intimidation, there is no room for doubt on the question of a succession of chances", she believes, also referring to the damage caused "to her car" or " fireworks mortar fire ”against his home.

Two ongoing investigations

"I see in particular a file on which I have taken positions that are unpleasant, especially in a traffic environment, and I think that very clearly I am being made to pay", adds the mayor without giving more details.

An investigation was opened following the assault on his son, without arrest at this stage, according to a source familiar with the matter.

"Hearings will have to take place, to clarify the motive of the aggression, and in particular the link with the quality of mayor of Mrs. Daumin", one indicates.

Another investigation is also underway concerning the fireworks mortar fire.

These facts were revealed Tuesday evening by the association of mayors of Val-de-Marne chaired by the mayor (PS) of Alfortville Luc Carvounas, who supported the elected.

The latter has called on a private security service to protect her house and intends to request functional protection.

383 elected officials attacked in 2019

The Association of Mayors of Ile-de-France (AMIF) denounced in a press release "an escalation of violence which has turned a corner by attacking the child" by Stéphanie Daumin.

“To attack a child is a cowardly and despicable act.

To do so to reach a mayor in his function of elected representative of the Republic is unforgivable ”, insisted the AMIF, recalling having launched an investigation in his area“ in order to measure the feeling of insecurity of the mayors ”.

According to figures from the Association of Mayors of France (AMF), 233 mayors were attacked from January to July against 198 last year at the same time.

For the whole of 2019, 383 elected officials suffered beatings or insults, against 361 in 2018.
