• Health: The restrictions in Catalonia for Christmas

The double soul, health and economic, with which the Government faces the management of the coronavirus crisis makes the administration itself tend to confuse with opposite messages.

The same day that the Minister of Health, Alba Vergés, affirmed that the increase in the reproduction speed (rt) of Covid-19 above 1, indicates that steps should be taken back in the plan for the progressive reopening of activity after restrictions of the second wave, the Department of Company showed its support to a campaign of the Gremio de Restauración de Barcelona so that bars and restaurants are filled, respecting the measures, this Christmas.

However, sanitary measures will mark the development of the Christmas holidays.

Vergés assured that the restrictions must be specified in the coming days while the Secretary of Public Health, Josep Maria Argimon, explained that when there is an increase in positive cases this translates, after a few days, into more emergencies in primary care , more admissions to hospital care and, finally, more admissions to intensive care units (ICU).

Vice President Pere Aragonès also assured the Parliament that "we know that we have Christmas just around the corner, but the evolution of the data does not lead us to be optimistic. The next few days are key: either we stop the trend or we will have to put restrictive measures are on the table. Countries around us have already done so. "

The Government affirmed that the data "are not good" since the speed of propagation chains several days to the rise, with a Rt of 1.22;

There are 345 people in the ICU and 62 new deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours.

For this reason, the Generalitat is considering whether or not it takes "a step back" and not "whether or not it advances in a section" in the de-escalation process that began a few weeks ago and that will undoubtedly affect the Christmas holidays and family gatherings. planned.

"Is it hard? No. The following is very hard. But we have to do it," said Interior Minister Miquel Sàmper about the difficulties for members of a family to celebrate the ephemeris of this time of year.

Faced with these calls for prudence, the Generalitat participates in a campaign launched by the Barcelona Restoration Guild to encourage people to go to bars and restaurants to parties this Christmas.

These are several ads featuring well-known celebratory characters in a restaurant that will be broadcast on digital media and social networks.

Specifically, journalists such as Mònica Terribas, Jordi Basté, Xavier Sardà, Gemma Nierga, Josep Cuní or Lídia Heredia, and actors and actresses such as Loles León, Carme Balagué, Anna Maria Barbany, Leticia Dolera, Itziar Castro, Núria Gago, Juanjo Puigcorbé and Jordi Sánchez.

The director of the Gremio de Restauració de Barcelona, Roger Pallarols, pointed out that the covid has had "severe consequences" in a fundamental sector for the "economic viability of the city for the people and families that depend on it."

That is why he stressed that this year there is an "unprecedented economic hole" in bars and restaurants as a result of the health and economic crisis with a "very delicate situation" that leaves the restaurant sector "mortally wounded".

That is why he recalled that "socialization is mandatory, since you must live with the covid until the medical solution helps or eradicates the disease" and encouraged "taking care of the health of people and companies in an atypical Christmas."

That is why he pointed out that the bars should be opened maintaining security measures to avoid contagion since "we cannot allow ourselves to paralyze the sector."

Pallarols said that the campaign has a double objective, which is to socialize and encourage a "key sector" to avoid "business desertification."

That is why he considers it the "last chance" for restaurateurs since they believe that "they deserve the support after months in which they have had a very bad time and many families have been ruined."

"The restoration is an essential sector. Its paralysis is a price that we cannot afford," said Pallarols who added that it is even "an exercise of responsibility to celebrate Christmas" in restaurants since there is little chance of becoming infected if the measures are complied with. sanitary.

"We have to give oxygen to this key sector for Barcelona and Catalonia," he said and assured that the campaign "is assured" with the data presented by the administrations in recent days.

Ramon Tremosa, Minister of Enterprise and Coneixement, should have attended the presentation of the campaign, but he did not do so due to scheduling issues.
