Saarbrücken (dpa / lrs) - At the start of the corona-related shutdown in Saarland, Prime Minister Tobias Hans (CDU) reports today in the state parliament (9 a.m.) in a government statement about the current corona situation.

For this purpose, a special session was convened, as the state parliament in Saarbrücken announced.

As of this Wednesday, public life is largely shut down across the Saarland - as in all other federal states.

The aim of the measures is to reduce the number of corona infections.

The retail trade will close until January 10th with the exception of shops for daily needs such as supermarkets and pharmacies.

The contacts are further limited to a maximum of five people from two households.

From December 24th to 26th, four other people from the family are also allowed in addition to your own household, regardless of which household.

Compulsory attendance at schools will be suspended until January 10th.

But there is care in schools for children who cannot be cared for at home.

Care should also be provided in daycare centers.

The regulations were decided by the cabinet on Tuesday.
