Mainz (dpa / lrs) - As of today, numerous shops in Rhineland-Palatinate have to remain closed due to the corona pandemic.

Hairdressers and cosmetic studios are also no longer allowed to offer their services.

Public life is largely shut down.

The tough restrictions are intended to help reduce the currently high number of infections again.

Because of the lockdown until January 10th, only shops offering everyday necessities are allowed to remain open.

These include, for example, supermarkets, petrol stations, drug stores, banks and weekly markets.

The sale of Christmas trees is also allowed.

In addition, drinking alcohol in public places is prohibited.

Children and young people no longer have to go to school, but should learn the subject matter at home.

At the schools themselves, emergency care is set up for pupils up to the seventh grade.

Friday is the last day of school before the Christmas holidays anyway.

In principle, the kindergartens remain open, but parents are requested to let their children at home if possible.
