A list that Chancellor Angela Merkel visibly carried on the way to the cabinet meeting on Wednesday showed data that may not have been intended for the public in the form.

On the paper, which can be easily recognized on press photos, a total of 14 categories can be seen, which apparently depict different groups and their estimated willingness to vaccinate (estimated participation rate).

Also listed: the number of vaccination doses needed for each group.

Overall, the federal government estimates that 69 percent of the population is ready to be vaccinated and that 46.16 million vaccinated persons need a total of 89.9 million vaccine doses for the population.

Two vaccination doses are charged per person.

Some of the estimates made by the federal government are interesting: A fairly low participation rate (60 percent) is attributed to people from the political and administrative sectors.

The question also arises whether the estimate for medical staff is too high: there is no representative survey of how ready to vaccinate medical staff throughout Germany.

But in a survey of the hospital society in North Rhine-Westphalia among several clinics, the management there estimated the willingness of employees to be vaccinated at 50 to 70 percent.

The federal government estimates the willingness of the 5.6 million health care workers to be vaccinated at 80 percent.

The group of under twelve-year-olds is given as 9.9 million and is listed without vaccination / vaccination doses, which is why it can be assumed that the federal government does not expect any vaccinations for this group.

An anonymous online survey (between December 3rd and 12th among 2,305 doctors and nurses) by the German Society for Internal Intensive Care Medicine and Emergency Medicine (DGIIN) and the German Interdisciplinary Association for Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (DIVI) among their members came to similar values Values: 73 percent of doctors and almost 50 percent of nurses in Germany would currently be vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2.

According to a recent survey by Forsa on behalf of the “RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland” in the general population, the general population's willingness to vaccinate is distributed across two large groups: 46 percent of people spontaneously willing to vaccinate, while 43 percent wanted to wait and see.

11 percent speak against it categorically against the vaccination.

Lately, the willingness to vaccinate in Germany had rather decreased.
