Tribsees (dpa / mv) - Transport Minister Christian Level (SPD) is visiting the major construction site on the A20 near Tribsees today (from 9 a.m.) - for the last time before it is handed over to the federal government.

At the turn of the year, the construction site changes from the responsibility of the state to that of the federal government.

According to the ministry, the second phase of construction is currently being implemented.

This is the almost 800 meter long northern half of the bridge from the TrebeltalbrĂĽcke to the existing A20 in the direction of Rostock.

In total, almost 340 bored piles with around 7250 cubic meters of concrete will be built in this construction phase, most of them have already been completed.

The reason for the major construction site since 2018 is that the A20 at Tribsees sagged and collapsed. Pictures of it went around the world. There is still no definite clarity about the cause of the collapse. Since December 2018, traffic has been rolling over a temporary bridge.
