This year's fourth financial compilation for the construction of Växjö's new station and town hall estimates a total cost of SEK 612 million.

- We have really been careful to keep track of the economy.

We have good cooperation between Vöfab, Skanska and the municipality.

Then the weather tent was very good.

It saved working time because the work could be done faster and better, says Anna Tenje (M).

Costs gone up and down

The figures have since the construction was hammered through in the council in November 2017 both gone up and down.

The highest figure that has appeared is 778 million, which can be confusing.

The forecast that the municipality is now comparing is from the beginning of 2019 - when the planning was completely finished and the current forecast work started.

At that time, the cost forecast - including the index

(See fact box)

- was 613 million (585 million + 28 million).

In today's forecast, the comparable sum has decreased to 612 million.

A price that is now hoped to be the final one.

- There are no risks anymore.

Everything is now procured and ready, says the project manager at Vöfab, Tony Söderena.

Climate in focus during construction

At the same time as the financial report was presented, the climate calculation around the construction was also raised.

- We have made wise material choices that have been a climate saving.

We see which materials drive the cost.

For example, we have replaced concrete with as much wood as possible and minimized steel and sheet metal, and this saves carbon dioxide, says Hans-Fredrik Helldahl, district manager at Skanska in Kronoberg County.
