Heringsdorf (dpa / mv) - Two demolished cars and a damaged house were created during a failed attempt to drive a man on the island of Usedom.

As a police spokesman explained on Wednesday, the 76-year-old stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake on Tuesday when starting.

The car made a straight jump forward, rammed a car in a carport in front of it, and pushed it against a house.

The senior was injured and taken to hospital by rescue workers.

Both heavily damaged vehicles had to be towed.

An expert examined the statics of the house, but assessed it as “still habitable”.

The damage was estimated at at least 50,000 euros.

The carport remained undamaged.
