Augsburg (dpa / lby) - The city of Augsburg and young climate activists are expected to remain on a confrontational course for the coming winter weeks because of a protest camp.
The city administration has announced that it will continue a legal dispute because of the so-called climate camp next to the Augsburg city hall in front of the Bavarian Administrative Court (VGH) in Munich.
The city had previously lost a corresponding process before the administrative court in Augsburg.
The administration of the 300,000-strong city wants to evacuate the camp, which has existed since the beginning of July, because they no longer regard the action as a political meeting.
However, the administrative judges had stressed that there were "no maximum time limits" for demonstrations.
Even if the participants slept temporarily in the camp, the protection of freedom of assembly would remain.

The climate campers supported by Fridays for Future are demanding that the city of Augsburg do more for climate protection.
In their opinion, the municipal utilities should no longer sell electricity that comes from coal-fired power stations in a few years.
At least two participants must always be present in the camp around the clock, otherwise the permanent demo is considered to be dissolved and the city could evacuate the camp.
On average, there are always five to ten activists, report the climate campers.
They don't want to leave until their demands have been met.
