Wolfsburg (AP) - The German women's soccer champions VfL Wolfsburg have safely reached the last sixteen of the Champions League.

After their 5-0 success in the first leg, coach Stephan Lerch's team also won the second game against the Serbian club Spartak Subotica 2-0 (0-0) on Wednesday evening in the round of 32.

The goals for Wolfsburg were scored by Fridolina Rolfö from Sweden (66th minute) and Shanice van de Sanden from the Netherlands (73rd).

The Serbian goalkeeper Milica Kostic saved two penalties from Lena Goeßling in the closing stages.

The first penalty had to be repeated in the 84th minute.

The round of 16 games in the Champions League will be drawn on February 16 and played in March 2021.

The exact dates have not yet been set.
