A diagnostic kit that allows the public to check for COVID-19 infection on their own has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Bloomberg News reported yesterday (15th) local time that the Corona 19 diagnostic kit developed by Australian pharmaceutical company Ellum will soon be approved and sold in the United States.

Elum's diagnostic kit is a method that checks for infection with a diagnostic kit attached to a smartphone after collecting a sample by putting a cotton swab in the nose.

It takes about 15 minutes to identify the protein on the virus surface.

Bloomberg News said the diagnostic kit costs about $30 and can be purchased at a pharmacy without a doctor's prescription.

Elum said it plans to produce 100,000 diagnostic kits a day starting next month.

Earlier, the home-use COVID-19 diagnostic kit manufactured by Lucira Health was approved by the Food and Drug Administration, but a prescription is required for purchase by the general public.
