A Canadian fashion giant has been caught by police for sexually exploiting dozens of women, including minors.



The Associated Press reported that Canadian police arrested Peter Nigard, founder of Nigard International, in Winnipeg yesterday (15th local time) local time.



The arrest is due to the charges of sexual trafficking and blackmail against Nigard by the Southern Federal District Prosecutors' Office in New York, USA.



New York prosecutors have requested the extradition of Nigard's criminal.



The prosecution believes that Nigard has been recruiting female victims, including minors, by utilizing the staff of the subordinate for at least 25 years.



Nigard is accused of taking drugs and alcohol and committing sexual violence after lured to his mansion to give women a chance to become a model.



The prosecution explained that many of the victims are poor or vulnerable women with experiences of abuse.



Recently, 57 female victims also filed a class action lawsuit alleging similar charges against Nigard and others in US court.



Born in Finland, Nigard founded a sportswear company named after him in Canada more than 50 years ago and grew into a large retailer with 170 stores in North America alone.
