Heilbronn (dpa / lsw) - The state of Baden-Württemberg has paid more than nine million euros in compensation for loss of income since the beginning of the corona pandemic.

This emerges from an answer to a request from the SPD member of the state parliament, Boris Weirauch, who reported on the “Heilbronn Voice” and “Mannheimer Morgen” (Wednesday).

Accordingly, more than 35,000 claims for compensation have been made because of loss of income, as Baden-Württemberg's Minister of Social Affairs Manfred Lucha (Greens) announced in the answer.

The total of the compensation amounts to around 9.1 million euros, as the newspapers report.

Despite the high amount of compensation, the SPD MP Weirauch sees room for improvement.

The claims for compensation were too complicated and it would take far too long for those affected to receive the necessary support, the SPD politician told the newspapers.

In some cases, those affected applied for the money last March and "haven't seen a cent of it" to date.

According to the ministry, with more than 14,000 cases, most claims for compensation have so far been made in the Stuttgart administrative district.

The right to compensation according to the Infection Protection Act therefore exists for employees, self-employed and freelancers who are affected by an officially ordered quarantine.

In addition, for working parents who are unable to work due to a school or daycare closing due to the care of their children and thus have lost earnings.
