Munich (dpa / lby) - Distance learning remains possible in Bavaria on the three-day home straight to the Christmas holidays.

The Ministry of Culture made this explicitly clear on Tuesday.

Apart from the final classes, the decision was made consciously against compulsory distance learning, the ministry said, "also to take some pressure off everyone involved in the special situation shortly before Christmas".

In any case, the teachers provided materials for deepening, practicing and repeating and were still available for students.

But of course, depending on the local conditions, the school can "also use all digital forms and structures of distance learning", emphasized the ministry, such as video conferences, MS Teams, the mebis learning platform, the school cloud, e-mails and the like.

A letter from the ministry on Monday caused a stir, in which it said for all grades with the exception of the final classes: "Distance teaching does not take place in the classes in question."

The Landtag FDP has now called for the resignation of Minister of Education and Cultural Affairs Michael Piazolo (Free Voters).
