Karin Jansdotter works as a chef at the research station Troll in Antarctica.

Now they have sun for 24 hours a day, but between May and June they had two and a half months completely without sunlight.

- We did not see the sun come up over the horizon, but we saw light.

It's the most beautiful time to be here, during the winter when you see that beautiful light.

During the winter period, Karin Jansdotter spent her free time doing quiet activities, such as baking, fermenting vegetables and writing a diary.

But she also emphasizes the importance of indulging in a little peace and quiet when it is darkest.

- You probably do not overwinter in Antarctica again.

So I really hid.

You do not have to push yourself to do so much when it's winter.

In the summer you are active and have more energy.

Winter is the period where you have to rest and recover a bit, I think, at least I did, she says.
