Mainz (dpa / lrs) - Trucks with corona vaccines on board are allowed to drive in Rhineland-Palatinate on Sundays and public holidays.

The Ministry of Transport in Mainz announced on Tuesday that a corresponding special permit had already been granted.

It also applies to the transport of other goods that are important for vaccination, such as cooling systems or medical instruments.

The exemption is limited initially until June 30, 2021. Trucks over 7.5 tons are generally not allowed to drive in Germany on Sundays and public holidays from midnight to 10 p.m.

However, there are exceptions, for example for the transport of fresh food.
