Weimar (dpa) - Thuringia's constitutional judges want to pass their verdict today (10:00 a.m.) on a lawsuit by the AfD parliamentary group against the country's hardship commission

The Commission can propose a residence permit for refugees and other foreigners who should actually leave the country after a decision by the authorities.

The AfD parliamentary group has expressed doubts as to whether the commission and its composition are compatible with the constitution.

Thuringia's highest judge dealt with the work of the commission and the lawsuit in October in a hearing lasting several hours.

The work of the commission is based on a federal regulation in the Residence Act.

There are also comparable bodies in other federal states.
