Löcknitz (dpa / mv) - An arson on a car in Löcknitz (Vorpommern-Greifswald) is currently employing German and Polish police officers across borders.

As a police spokeswoman said on Tuesday, the vehicle was last driven by a man from Poland a week ago.

He stated that he had previously parked the car in Löcknitz not far from Bundesstraße 104.

However, he did not comment on the reasons.

The car, worth 55,000 euros, was set on fire and burned out on the night of December 8th.

Investigators have found clear traces of the arson, said the spokeswoman.

Since the driver of the vehicle leased in Poland did not file a complaint, the Polish police had been brought in with a request for legal assistance.

The man also has no known connection to Löcknitz, which is a good 15 kilometers west of the city of Stettin (Szczecin) and has a number of Polish residents.

After the fire department had extinguished it, investigators found a symbol carved into the paint in the rear door of the wreck on the driver's side.

It was a mirror image of a forbidden swastika.

According to the investigations so far, there is a possibility that a wrong trace should be laid, said the spokeswoman.
