Milwaukee (AP) - The most valuable basketball player in the NBA, Giannis Antetokounmpo, has extended long-term to the Milwaukee Bucks.

The 26-year-old Greek announced this on Twitter.

«This is my home, this is my city.

I feel blessed to be part of the Milwaukee Bucks for the next five years.

The show goes on, let's go, »wrote Antetokounmpo.

In the past two seasons of 2018/19 and 2019/2020, the forward won the North American professional league's award as most valuable player and is considered the best basketball player in the world alongside superstar LeBron James.

For its five-year extension, the Greek should receive a total of 228 million dollars (around 187.5 million euros).

The Bucks are considered one of the biggest contenders for the title for the upcoming NBA season, which begins just before Christmas.

In the past season, the Los Angeles Lakers had won the title around James.

Antetokounmpo is so far without a championship trophy in the NBA.
