Hear the politicians' different positions in the clip above.

On Friday, SVT Nyheter Väst was able to reveal that the Muslim study association Ibn Rushd's western district risks losing its million contribution from the municipality of Gothenburg.

This after the Social Resources Committee in Gothenburg ordered a review of the study association economics and connection to extremism.

However, not all politicians on the committee considered the review necessary.

- You are simply afraid and worried about Islam, says Stig Andersson (MP).

Democrats: Sees risk of cheating

The Democrats in Gothenburg are generally against student unions.

The party believes that they are too poorly scrutinized and that the risk of cheating is then great.

- It is a huge problem, I would say, says Sofie Löwenmark (D).

Despite this, the Democrats thought that the review of Ibn Rushd was not necessary - but for completely different reasons than the Green Party.

- We do not think it was needed.

That the grants would just be stopped anyway, says Sofie Löwenmark (D).

Decision soon

The review, which SVT took note of, shows several shortcomings in the financial reporting and points to question marks surrounding the religious activities.

SVT Nyheter Väst has been in contact with Ibn Rushd in Gothenburg on Monday who denies having any connections to anti-Semitism and extremism.

They themselves have not seen the scrutiny that the politicians have received as a basis, as it has been classified, but will during the week respond to the criticism directed at them, both when it comes to the economy and the accusations directed at the union.

An official statement to the politicians states that the study association's desired contribution of 1.8 million should be stopped.

A decision on this is scheduled for December 16.
