Karlsruhe (dpa) - The VW emissions scandal concerns the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) again today.

This time the question is whether affected diesel buyers are also entitled to compensation from Volkswagen if they did not file their lawsuit until 2019 or 2020.

VW assumes that the claims will expire at the end of 2018.

The diesel scandal was exposed in autumn 2015.

The statute of limitations is three years.

An exception is only possible if the legal situation is so uncertain and dubious that it would be unreasonable to take legal action.

In the case of the plaintiff, whose case is now being heard in Karlsruhe, the Stuttgart Higher Regional Court recently saw no reason for an exception.

The verdict is unlikely to be announced today, but will probably be announced before Christmas.

According to VW, the outcome is crucial for around 9,000 pending proceedings.
