Göttingen (dpa / lni) - After a pilot phase with limited capacities, the University of Göttingen has been offering voluntary corona tests for all students and employees since this week.

With this the university wants to enable a presence operation.

Anyone who would like to be tested must register for an appointment online.

A total of up to 1200 people can be tested daily.

The "Campus Covid Screen" project was developed in collaboration with the Medical Microbiology of the University Medical Center Göttingen and the Göttingen Max Planck Institutes for Experimental Medicine, for Biophysical Chemistry and for Dynamics and Self-Organization.

"The regular screening is a chance for a little more normalcy in university operations, and we therefore hope for active participation," said University President Reinhard Jahn. Participation in the tests is not a prerequisite for access to university events and does not release anyone from obligations ordered by the Göttingen health department.
