Usually, this is a routine step that no one really pays attention to.

But as Donald Trump continues to challenge the results of the November 3 presidential election, the electoral college's vote is being closely watched on Monday.

Biden 166 - 120 Trump.

Five of the 6 states contested by Trump have already voted (and all the major voters voted for Joe Biden): Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Michigan remains from 8 p.m.

The 538 electorate voters meet in every state - except Nevada, which has chosen a virtual vote.

At 8 p.m. (Paris time), Joe Biden was in the lead by 166 votes against 126 for Donald Trump.

Five of the six states contested by the US president have already spoken: Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

For the moment, there are no "infidel" voters (those who vote for a candidate other than the one who won their state).

Joe Biden is expected to cross the absolute majority mark after 2 p.m. (11 p.m. KST) with the vote of the 55 California voters.

The president-elect is expected to make a statement in the evening.

Despite more than 50 defeats for his court appeals, including two before the Supreme Court, Donald Trump has still not admitted his defeat.

His challenges could last until January 6, when Congress meets to validate the votes of the electoral college.

An elected Republican, Mo Brooks, has already warned that he would table a motion to block the voters of several states.

But even if a Republican senator joins him, Democrats have a majority in the House and will therefore be able to block their action.

Joe Biden will be sworn in on January 20.
