“Taking into account the requirements of Article 62 of the Criminal Code of Russia, if a person cooperated with the investigation, then the punishment is imposed from six to ten years in prison,” said lawyer Sergei Lukyanov, speaking in court.

According to him, given that the victim Anastasia Yeschenko "gave a reason", the presence of a traumatic situation and other mitigating circumstances, the punishment for Sokolov "cannot exceed eight years in prison."

Earlier, the prosecution, during the debate of the parties in court, asked to appoint Sokolov a sentence of 15 years in a maximum security colony.

The court is expected to announce the verdict to Sokolov on December 25.
