Munich (dpa / lby) - Working in the home office brings a lot of relief for Bavarian employees - but according to a study it also causes health problems.

In the current partial lockdown, more than every third employee in the Free State works from home several times a week, according to a current Forsa survey by the health insurance company DAK Bayern, which is available to the German Press Agency.

Before the pandemic, this was only one in nine.

Four fifths of those surveyed stated that they could better combine work and private life in the home office.

Even more employees gain “a lot of time” by not having to commute to work.

Three quarters find they are more productive and two-thirds feel less distracted.

However: every third reported increased tension or pain from working at home.

"As the corona pandemic progresses, it becomes clear that the office cannot be relocated to the kitchen table permanently," emphasizes DAK CEO Andreas Storm.

The results also showed that every second workstation in the home office is worse equipped than in the office.

In addition, for almost two thirds the line between job and private life becomes more blurred, and for almost half work is more difficult because of the lack of direct contact with colleagues.

Two thirds also miss social interaction - men more than women.

On the other hand, they fight more often against health consequences.

Most employees in Bavaria want to work regularly from home even after the corona pandemic.

40 percent - especially younger and male employees - would like to have several home office days a week.

A quarter, on the other hand, generally prefer the office.
