To facilitate the screening for Covid-19, PCR tests which consist of a sample from the nose are fully covered by social security.

But, the medical analysis laboratories that perform them will no longer be systematically paid 100%.

From next January, the level of reimbursement of these laboratories will now depend on the deadlines within which the results of the analyzes are delivered.

Thus, those who deliver the results in less than 24 hours will be reimbursed at the highest rate.

If it is between 24 and 48 hours, the refund will be a little less, and beyond 2 days, the test will not be paid.

This degressive pricing is the result of a discussion between health insurance and the unions of biologists.

The objective is to encourage laboratories to carry out tests in 24 hours, but also to compensate for the drifts observed during the rush on tests last summer.

Long queues formed in front of analytical laboratories, and individuals received their results sometimes several days late.
