Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The SPD and Greens in North Rhine-Westphalia have described the new lockdown decided by the federal and state governments as correct, but are demanding a more long-term corona strategy from the NRW state government.

"A so-called lockdown in this form was inevitable in view of the current and expected numbers of infections," said SPD parliamentary group leader Thomas Kutschaty on Sunday.

"However, the short-term nature of this decision must not become a blueprint for dealing with the corona pandemic."

Already now everything depends on “keeping an approaching third wave as flat as possible”, emphasized Kutschaty.

Even if the numbers should decline by January 10th as a result of the measures adopted, the wrong conclusions should not be drawn.

The state government of Armin Laschet (CDU) must develop long-term prospects.

This includes the establishment of a comprehensive test infrastructure as well as a massive increase in health authorities.

The Green parliamentary group called on the CDU / FDP government to use the Christmas holidays to develop a step-by-step plan that includes specific measures depending on the incidence values.

These represent the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants over the past seven days.

"Relaxation and necessary perspectives must be clearly linked to the infection process", emphasized the parliamentary group leaders Josefine Paul and Verena Schäffer.

The traceability of the measures is important for their acceptance.
