Purchase of vehicles via Blockchain in Dubai at the end of this month

The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai revealed to "Emirates Today" that the application of the first system for purchasing and registering vehicles through Blockchain technology begins at the end of this month or no later than early January, announcing the completion of the construction of the required infrastructure to implement the system, which will start its implementation in partnership. With private sector institutions, to allow customers to choose, acquire and register their vehicles, and complete all financing transactions related to them, through simple and brief steps, completed through their phones, without the need to personally come to the site of purchase.

She said that she had developed the service, which is one of the "X10" projects, in cooperation with the "Cees" company and the Arabian Gulf Mechanical Center, agents of the BMW car company, noting that it used blockchain technology and its platform, to link the authority. In the various government departments concerned with the implementation of the project, such as Dubai Customs, Dubai Police, car agencies and insurance companies, as the information will be provided in one reliable platform, which includes detailed information about the vehicle’s life cycle, from the stage of manufacture to supply.

The authority continued that the first phase of the project’s implementation will be on new vehicles, starting from their entry into the country, provided that new services will be added during the next stages, such as buying a used vehicle, selling to individuals, and other services, adding that during the next period, the connection will be successively completed. With other parties, such as vehicle repair companies and workshops, and spare parts purchasing companies, over the next five years.

The authority affirmed that the launch of the system, the new service and subsequent services in the future, will enhance the position of the Emirate of Dubai as a reliable and safe destination for the used car market, with economic benefits for that market.

The authority said that it is conducting final tests on the use of the system to ensure the success of the linking operations with all parties before launching the service, which is the first of the authority’s services that it will provide through blockchain technology, noting that customers will be able to choose any vehicle offered by BMW Through the «SEAIS» platform, using the Emirates ID card defined for the system.

The authority explained that the customer will be able to complete all steps, including requesting to test the vehicle to reach his home, and in the event that the purchase decision is made, he will be able to complete all the required transactions through the "SEIZ" platform, which will include the procedures for obtaining a car loan and paying the first payment, as well as procedures Insurance and registration, until the last steps, to finally deliver the vehicle to the customer at his home or any location he specifies, without him having to personally come to the company’s site.

The authority clarified that it offered the service to auto agencies, and offered to cooperate with it and assist it in establishing and fulfilling the technical and technical requirements required to participate in providing its services through the system, noting that the start has been made with BMW because the company has demonstrated the readiness of the technical infrastructure that allows it to connect With the order and provide service to customers.

The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai said that the pilot phase of establishing the system and providing the service included organizing workshops and holding coordination meetings with a large group of entities, to discuss the method of designing service provision to customers, taking into account the technical requirements required from each party in order for the service to be launched. Adding that it conducted initial experiments with different types and levels of customers, about their opinion of the service and their suggestions about the mechanism of using the service, its steps, and the extent of ease of use.
