December 13, 2020 Germany plans to close most stores starting Wednesday through January 10, as part of tightening restrictions to halt the advance of Covid-19.

This is what we read in the draft of the government proposal, viewed by Reuters, taken up by the AGI, and prepared on the eve of the meeting today of Chancellor Angela Merkel and the representatives of the Laender focused precisely on the new anti-Covid measures.

According to the project, it will only be allowed to remain open to essential shops, such as supermarkets, pharmacies and banks.

The advances confirm what has already been published in the Bild which defines today's "the most important summit on coronavirus": schools and kindergartens will be closed until January 10 and companies will be asked to smart working or to close their activities.

Germany was in partial lockdown for six weeks, with bars and restaurants closed, while schools and shops remained open.

Some regions have already imposed stricter measures in the wake of the increase in infections.
