China News Service, December 13th. According to Euronet, the European Union News Agency reported on the 13th that Europa Nostra, a cultural heritage organization, announced that it will transfer the Greek islands of Amorgos, Kimolos, Sikinos, North Island and Kithira Island are symbolically included in the list of endangered cultural heritage in order to avoid excessive development of wind farms on the aforementioned islands, causing damage to the landscape and ecology.

According to reports, Europa Nostra is a non-governmental organization dedicated to the protection of European cultural and natural heritage, working closely with the European Commission and UNESCO.

The organization worked with the European Investment Bank Institute and the Greek Association for the Protection of the Environment and Cultural Heritage to draft this annual list of cultural heritage in danger.

For the selection of five more remote Greek islands, Leventis said that this choice is representative because the list cannot include all Greek islands facing the same problems.

The above five islands all have high historical, cultural and natural landscape value.

Europa Nostra believes that the natural environment of these islands is at risk of being destroyed by wind farm construction.

Prior to this, the General Staff of the National Defense of Greece had also expressed opposition to the construction of wind farms on some islands, citing concerns about national security and coastal shipping safety.
