Berlin (AP) - Alba Berlin has won an important home win in the basketball Bundesliga.

On Sunday the Berliners won in front of empty ranks in their own hall after a tough fight against Brose Bamberg with 82:70 (41:31).

Alba remains in the top group of the league.

The best Berlin throwers were Peyton Siva with 22 and Johannes Thiemann with 18 points.

Coach Aito Garcia had to do without the long-injured top performers Simone Fontecchio, Marcus Eriksson and Ben Lammers.

For Alba it was the sixth game in the last 13 days.

And so it took the Berliners a few minutes to find their way into the game.

In the middle of the first quarter Alba was able to break away for the first time with a 10-0 run (16: 6).

But the Franks continued to be committed and stayed at it.

Also because the German champions lost some balls and missed throws.

Bamberg tried very quickly to exploit the hosts' fatigue.

But whenever the guests came closer, Alba had an answer and so the tour continued.

In the middle of the third quarter, the hosts were able to pull away by 14 points (54:40).

But then suddenly hardly anything worked and after a 2:15 negative run the lead was almost lost.

The guests stayed tuned and equalized almost seven minutes before the end (62:62).

But Alba was not shocked, responded with a 12-0 run thus forced the preliminary decision.

Then the Berlin team brought the lead to the finish.
