Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - In order to be prepared for a reopening of the theaters and concert halls currently closed due to Corona, the ventilation of the houses is being examined.

The German Theatertechnical Society will initially look at the ventilation systems in large houses, said the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Culture.

In a first step, the ventilation systems in 27 facilities are to be examined carefully: in 19 municipal theaters, the four state theaters and the large concert halls in Cologne, Dortmund, Düsseldorf and Bochum.

This involves questions such as fresh air supply, room size and number of seats.

The investigation is expected to begin in December and be completed in February 2021.

Then it is the turn of smaller houses.

"Good ventilation is a decisive factor in reducing the likelihood of infections in cultural institutions to a minimum," said Minister of Culture Isabel Pfeiffer-Poensgen (non-party).

With the help of the data, scientifically founded concepts could be created.

That is a prerequisite for an opening strategy.

In NRW, a working group is to work out plans for the reopening of the cultural centers.

That was agreed in November.
