The doc in 2 minutes: Pakistan, the weapon of blasphemy -
20 Minutes
A life that depends on a word.
In the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, blasphemy is punished with the death penalty, according to a law passed in 1986. From then on, the accusation of having blasphemed leads its supposed perpetrators to prison, awaiting the final judgment.
Even when those accused are acquitted, they are frequently murdered by extremist groups.
From then on, the charge of blasphemy becomes a weapon by destination, used for revenge or malice.
The Asia Bibi affair is a recent and blatant illustration of this.
Spicee traveled to his village to investigate the blasphemy weapon.
